Bath Business and Community Partnership – (BBCP)
The Five-Point approach is a comprehensive, holistic approach to urban revitalization. It means working with all aspects of a community in order to make it a better place.
1.Physical Improvements/Design: This means getting downtown into top physical shape. This Committee focuses on the building stock in a variety of ways.
Assisting in developing and coordinating the Façade Program.
Working with codes, zoning and parking.
Acquiring streetscape amenities such as banners, signage, street furniture.
Ensuring that downtown is clean.
2. Organization: Organization involves getting everyone working together toward the same goal.
Recruiting & training volunteers.
Communicating the Organization’s message. Setting long-term strategy.
Fundraising for the Organization’s activities.
3. Promotional/Community Marketing Promotion and Community Marketing: Is about selling the image and promise of downtown to all by marketing its unique characteristics and improving its image.
Organize special events to bring people into downtown. Create retail promotions to attract people to stores and restaurants.
Establish the community’s unique downtown “brand”.
4. Economic Restructuring/Asset Enhancement: Economic Restructuring means enhancing already existing businesses and recruiting new ones.
Filling vacant properties by recruiting businesses.
Coordinating with economic development agencies.
Assisting the Borough in the acquisition of loan, grant and tax credit programs.
5. Safe, Clean & Green: Ensuring that downtown is safe, environmentally friendly and well-maintained.
Working with police to increase safety.
Cleaning up and greening downtown.
Working to establish and maintain open space areas within the downtown.
