Mayor Fiorella Mirabito has two passions: dogs and constantly finding ways to improve the little Borough of Bath!

So, in 2016, she approached Borough Council with the idea of redeveloping the defunct tennis court in the area of Firefighters Field, near the alley of Friendship Lane. Mayor Mirabito thought it would be nice for our four-legged friends to have a special place, all to their own–a dog park!

The project made sense for that area of the park, being tucked away near a residential district and close to Monocacy Creek for a tranquil backdrop. Working with the Borough’s Parks & Recreation Committee, plans for developing the new dog park, later known as ‘Paw Park’ emerged.

On April 8, 2016, Mayor Mirabito collected her first $100 for the initiative. Through various funding raising events, Mayor Mirabito went on to collected $19,943.26 for the Paw Park project.

Creating Paw Park required shaping a few hills, applying new material for dogs to run around on, something low maintenance, drainage, and installing a large breed and small breed fenced in areas along with adding new park signage.

The Borough Public Works would complete the project by the summer of 2019. Labor for installing the large and small breed fenced in areas was donated by Tri-Boro Fencing.

Total Paw Park construction costs were $35,042.68. And of that amount, $15,099.42 was subsidized from the Borough’s General Fund (Parks Budget) and the Mayor’s Fund. Mayor Mirabito raised 57% of the total cost of the project in public donations.

And Bath now has a new park enhancement for all those with a passion for dogs!

The Borough wishes to thank everyone involved for their contributions!
