Note: The rental licensing and inspection program officially began in 2022. Landlords/property owners operating rental units had the option to complete initial inspections in 2022, 2023, or 2024. All rental units must be inspected every 3 years. All registered rental units that have not previously completed a rental inspection will be required to do so before the end of 2024. Once the rental unit passes the inspection, the rental unit does not require another inspection for 3 years, unless the Borough receives a tenant complaint.

Minimum Standards Inspection (MSI) Report & What’s on the Inspection Report?

Rental units are required to be licensed in the Borough of Bath. As part of the rental license, inspections of the rental unit occur when the rental unit is new or within every three (3) years the rental unit exists. The inspection will follow a ‘Minimum Standards Inspection’ or MSI report with pass/fail items in three main categories: 1) Administrative, 2) Interior, and 3) Exterior. Each item has a description as to what the Code Official will be looking for.
