Public Works Department

The Public Works Department is operated by four full-time employees, overseen by the Borough Manager.  The Department day-to-day operations is managed by a Public Works Foreman who works alongside a team of three crewmembers. Tip your hat at them out there when you seem them!

The borough contracts with a Landscaping company to provide lawn cutting and trimming services to the more than 34 acres of open park space. The borough also assigns temporary public works crewmembers to assist with snow and ice control operations during the winter months. Check the borough’s website for winter maintenance operator opportunities.

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 34 acres of Borough property.  This includes open park spaces and facilities across eight locations. The Department maintains two pavilions, one gazebo, snack stand, two field houses, two baseball fields, a dog park, multiple playground facilities, streetscapes, flower and landscaping beds. During the winter months, your public works crew maintains more than 12 lane miles of roadway; plowing snow, deicing, and adding traction control materials round the clock.  The Crew is also responsible for construction projects, coordinating with road repair contractors, and completing road repair projects.  Finally, the Department is responsible for maintaining the borough’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System or MS4 program containing 17 outfalls along the Monocacy Creek, more than 13,000 linear feet of storm drain pipes and hundreds of storm sewer facilities.

Regardless of the weather conditions, our public works staff is committed to maintaining the Borough and keeping the community looking clean and presentable for residents and visitors!
