For many years the Ciff Cowling Pavilion concrete floor was in substantial disrepair. The Borough lacked any capital resources to hire a contractor for demolishing and reconstructing the floor. Then, Mayor Mirabito had an idea (later green-lighted by Borough Council).

Mayor Mirabito reached out to some friends at 4 Winds Concrete who agreed to contribute all the concrete necessary to fix the pavilion–roughly 1,200 square feet (20′ x 60′) space or 22 cubic yards of concrete. All Bath had to do was complete the floor demolition, re-establish the sub-base, install forms, and install reinforced concrete supporting. Easy! In addition, Bath would need to finish the concrete once delivered by 4 Winds. Terms accepted!

Bath solicited the help of volunteers for the project. The volunteers included Barry Fenstermaker, Andrew Ehrgott, Emanuel Mirabito, Nick Krause, and Brad Flynn. Bill Yob and Kenney Fogel of the Public Works Crew also assisted with demolition and site preparation. Even the concrete forms were sent to Bath on loan from A.J. Trunzo. Work was completed over a few weekends.

The Pavilion floor is now made up of a 4″ stone base with a 6″ reinforced concrete. The previous floor was only 4″ thick. The new floor is built strong and will be durable for years to come.

This initiative, at the time, likely saved the Borough $30,000 in repairs thanks to Mayor Mirabito’s collaboration with, 4 Winds Concrete, A.J. Trunzo, and all the workers who made the reconstruction possible.
