The Old Forge Community was built in the 1970s. Street lighting standards were different than they are today. The community contains Old Forge Drive, Creek Road, and Century Drive. And between them, only 10 streetlights illuminate the community!

Bath is going to change this and make the community brighter, safer, with lighting that is more economically efficient. Earlier this year, Bath was awarded significant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development Multi-Modal Transportation Grant.
Later this year, the Borough intends to install up to 23 new solar powered (off-grid) LED streetlights in the Old Forge Community. More than doubling the number of streetlights currently in place.

These lights are similar to the streetlights along American Parkway in Allentown, only sized to proportion for a residential area and not a highway.
The project is expected to cost north of $300,000 of which a significant portion of the funding is coming from the state and Northampton County’s Community Development Block Grant program. The new streetlights will be brighter, and completely off grid. This will save money not only the Old Forge Community, but the entire Borough in energy costs.
