As of November 9, 2023, (not including pending applications) Bath has asked for $3,690,541.02 in various project funding. (Exception: ARPA Funding– Bath’s amount was determined by federal/state calculation.) The Borough has received $1,494,967.12. According to these figures, Bath averages around 41% of what it requests in grant funding.

Grant programs are highly competitive and project specific. Grant applications may require design and engineered, or detailed plans in order to be submitted. Some grant programs require local matching funds, while others do not. Matching funds can aid in a grant application being approved.

Grant Funding Leads to Even More Financial Assistance

With the types of grants Bath has applied for and received, it has helped to springboard Bath not just for more financial assistance. Take Bath’s transportation network for example:

Bath partnered with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission for a parking and pedestrian safety study–‘Bath Multimodal Safety & Parking Study‘. That work led Bath to partner with Northampton County to apply for grant funding through the Community Investment Partnership Program and Community Development Block Grant program to create the Borough’s Master Long-Range Transportation Improvement Plan ‘Alternatives Analysis‘. This study became the full history and forensics needed to understand how Bath should handle future traffic congestion and overall pedestrian/vehicular safety. The study was presented to PennDOT.

The result of this led to PennDOT taking a closer look at the state highways crisscrossing through Bath. PennDOT agreed to assume significant projects that will improve Bath’s transportation network. PennDOT is now investing approximately $6 million to upgrade the Borough’s traffic signals and to re-align State Route 248.
